Silverstream Health Centre nurses attended the Te Rā o te Ruakura at Te Whiti Park on the 1st of February.
Te Rā o te Raukura is a cultural experience featuring a whole array of arts and crafts, health and education exhibitions, live bands, cultural and dance groups, amusements rides as well as a huge range of food stalls for the whole whānau.
The event featured a marque filled with a variety of organisations with a holistic look at health. All of which offered advice, education and resources targeting Maori health. SHC staff were based with the Te Awakairangi (Hutt Valley PHO) team on the BMI and blood pressure stations.
People were given free healthcare and education to assist them with a better understanding on their own health needs with the aim to empower them to work towards a healthier lifestyle.
The event was a great community focused whanau day.
