The Silverstream Health Centre team has made the decision to keep our doors shut during level 2.
We have had many questions around why we have kept this measure in place when other businesses are now open. We would like to address these concerns to assure everyone that everything we are doing is to benefit our patients and our community.
Patients come to the doctor to get well or make sure they stay healthy, however, doctors’ offices and waiting rooms are frequently filled with sick people. The recent pandemic has given us some experience dealing with patients medical concerns, without having to physically see them. This saves our patients both time and money, as well as keeping infection risk as low as possible. You don’t have to go home with a new contagious bug along with the ache or illness that spurred your visit.
Therefore, moving forward, we will be encouraging telephone, electronic (email) and video consultations as alternatives to the traditional doctors visit. Of course, there will still be times when you need to come into the practice – immunisations, smears, injuries and other ailments that require physical attention and these will always be catered for but if your first contact with us is via telephone or electronically then we can help you plan you face-to-face consultation so you get the most out of it.
We understand that this change may be daunting for some and it will take some time to adjust, but we know that our patients will benefit from a more streamlined and efficient service AND less winter bugs to contend with!
