Nurses globally and in New Zealand will join together this year to celebrate the International Year of the Nurse and the global Nursing Now campaign. And today, May the 11th is International Nurse’s Day.
2020 has been chosen by the World Health Organization as the International Year of the Nurse, coinciding with the 200th anniversary of the birth of Florence Nightingale, one of the founders of modern nursing.
The Nursing Now movement, which coincides with the 2020 celebrations, is organised by the International Council of Nurses and is a worldwide campaign to raise the status and profile of nursing, through a growing social network of groups aiming to influence global and national policy.
Now, more than ever, we can see and appreciate the absolutely amazing work nurses perform everyday. They put themselves in in the firing line to protect those in need, whilst always being kind and compassionate.
The Silverstream Health Centre nursing team have gone above and beyond during the Covid-19 pandemic; vaccinating in car parks, switching seamlessly to virtual consults, working remotely, learning new way of managing situations, covid 19 swabbing, adapting and responding to change almost overnight at times.
Our nursing team has over 58 collective years working at Silverstream Health Centre so they know the community!
We are so proud of them and what they do everyday.
