We are a teaching practice

March 22nd, 2021

Silverstream Health Centre are proud to support the training of our future New Zealand workforce. As part of this, you may meet nursing students, medical students, junior doctors and General Practice Registrars at the practice. All of our trainees work in a collegial environment with supervision appropriate to their levels of experience. You form an important part of their training. You are also always able ask for a health provider of your choice should you wish to not see one of the trainees.

Our current General Practice Registrar is Jenny Linsell. Jenny started with us in February and will stay on for 6 months. Jenny was born and went to med school in Scotland. She moved to New Zealand 2017 and worked in hospital medicine with a particular interest in geriatrics.

Trainee General Practitioners

Vocational (on the job) training in general practice is undertaken through the Royal New Zealand College of General Practitioners (RNZCGP). Once RNZCGP training is completed, the doctor is awarded the Fellowship of the RNZCGP (FRNZCGP).

The Royal New Zealand College of General Practitioners (the College) is the professional body and postgraduate educational institute for general practitioners (GPs). The College strives to ensure a high standard of care in general practices across New Zealand by setting the standard for quality systems.
